Today I joined a new networking group “Creative Connections” in Denver. The members are all involved in diverse creative career, and meet on average once a week. At the end of the week I will attend my first meeting in Centennial.
Just joined “grouply” the online networking group, so far I have connected with my ski club, but was asked to join by a fellow artist. Even though it is christmas today, I feel like painting some more on my mural, as it is close to being completed. HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all.
This evening Tara Reed offered a conference on licensing art work. I have been doing this for years, but it is always good to hear a different perspective on the topic; this year I am really trying to educate myself as the marketplace has changed so drastically. Tara answered questions, most of them having […]
I am really enjoying working on my new juvenile mural; the birds on a tree theme is new for me which makes it interesting. Also adding other creatures, turtle, butterfly, rabbit. The mixing of wall and acrylic paint seems to be working well. Will post a picture when the piece is completed.
A couple of nights ago Spike lee gave a lecture at Colorado College, which I attended with a friend. It was really inspiring to hear his story about the beginning of his career. The challenges of a film maker appear to be similar to those of an illustrator; the bottom line was that Spike talked […]
last night I joined the Art Licensing Forum, an online networking site for artists and designers who license their work to publishers and manufacturers. So glad that my friends keep me updated about the latest web resources.
I would like to thank all of my clients, friends and family who have supported me in my career, and made this wonderful journey possible. Without an audience to enjoy the pieces, and clients to keep me in business the pleasure of creating would be not be as rewarding. The appliqué scarecrow was designed for […]
This one was the most glorious! I led a hike up to the Crags which are on the back side of Pikes Peak; the day was a little cool but sunny and we walked in the snow nearly the entire way. The 280 degrees view at the top of the trail is magnificent; this trail […]
When I am not in my studio creating new pieces, I enjoy outdoor activities in Colorado. Living in the front range is ideal for me, as there is such easy access to the mountains. Last week-end I took a hike in Aiken Canyon, which is on Nature Conservancy land just twenty miles south of Colorado […]
Although the show is over now, I am still reflecting on the four days spent setting up and talking with the individuals in my booth. The traffic could have been better, but it was wonderful to see the children’s reactions to some of the art work, in particular the new painting of the mermaid. Little […]
last week-end I attended the SCBWI conference in lakewood, Colorado to learn more about how to illustrate children’s books. The bulk of my work in recent years has been designing children’s images, which can expand into many areas.
Now that I am back from my trip to Europe, I am starting to develop ideas for my booth at a trade show where I will be exhibiting in October; the Women’s Living Expo in Colorado Springs features products and services that are of interest to women. As I specialize in juvenile and baby […]
